I believe that there may be many benefits to calorie restrictive diets, but this guy scares me a bit. He does not need to skip any more meals. Wherever it was he intended to go with this, I believe he has arrived. It's over...have a sandwich man!

I was a type 2 diabetic. Until I heard about intermittent fasting I can say from my experience it works wonders in 3 months I went from 209 lbs to 172 lb ....cut soda eat healthy and go on 2 or 3 bike rides a week it was a program that put my diabetes into remission in 3 months no meds no finger pricking it works wonders I did the 8 / 16 diet and it changed my life

It's completely obvious to anyone following an IF diet that the food industry, the pharma industry and Republican lawmakers who are invested in those industries are all AGAINST a healthy society. A healthy society doesn't purchase excess amounts of food, or eat massive amounts of calories. A healthy society doesn't stay on pharmas. A healthy society doesn't need expensive health care. By doing IF you are part of the Resistance. Count me as part of that Resistance.
I confess that my hand had started to shake in the past. I tried to deny it. I used to fast a lot, somehow I stopped. I started to fast this year, plus getting rid of sugar and the shaking is gone.Aleluyah
So what causes my hypoglycemia? Sometimes it doesn't bother me and sometimes it does badly. I know it is nutritionally related, but WHICH vitamin or mineral? I upped my greens and quit caffeine and now I rarely get hypoglycemia. So, is it B9 or magnesium? Btw, many people on CR diets also fast, esp. the 8 hour fast.
I just today finished a four day fast and have never gone this long without food and also, have not felt so good in many years. BTW, I am an epileptic and have noticed a noted decrease in my seizure disorder. This guy couldn't be more right about this topic.
Hey guys, Can i Fast between 12pm-8pm everyday but still enjoy a coffee in the morning?
Does it matter how many meals im having? Could i have two BIG meal? Im fairly skinny and dont want to lose weight
if eating 3 meals a day change to 2. if eating 2 meals a day chane to 1. if eating one meal a day skip one meal a week. point being no matter where you are you can take small achievable steps to save money, time and improve you health. hard to argue with that.
Thank God for people like this gentleman. Pure hard science and no profit motive involved in what he is saying. He needs to get smaller shirts though, as the oversized ones make him look a bit malnourished, wish he isn't.
The science overwhelmingly reveals that the typical diet of three meals a day plus snacks is an unhealthy eating pattern but intermittent fasting is not promoted because of the profit motive. The food and pharmaceutical industries are going to lose money. There is no money to be made on healthy people. So you have to ask yourself a question, is your health more important than the profits of the advertising, food and pharmaceutical industries.
Makes a lot of sense we would have been active in the hunt and gather mode during the more part of evolution and not as lazy as the last few thousand years. We're probably designed to be at our best when hungry and to then activate our brain to be able to best hunt and track down to survive. Hunting is natures exercising and the body at peak performance to survive. This would have been a regular occurrence much more than a modern day in forests etc. Think could possibly the time the body gets rid of and pushes out all the bad stuff. But like time to empty the recycled bins. Ppl won't like fasting on the mass of course because look at them got an obvious society. Should compare this study on the poor countries that can't eat all the time compared to USA.
If fasting puts the body under stress and that is what causes all the good changes, the body adapting to the stress of no food, wouldn't that effect wear off as the body becomes used to not receiving food for the longer time? Thus making IF a short term solution for a more active brain and body?
Good talk, although the term "energy restriction" is not a great term. Eating less food actually liberates all kinds of "energy" it's not the same as the energy in physical solid food but it is still energy as is everything ultimately. So it is better to say calorie restriction or food restriction, it is specific to what Type of energy we are talking about since when we restrict food energy then other types of energy are liberated in our body. Great info being conveyed here, the speaker seems like a really caring guy, just gotta bring up his game a bit with presentation and appearing more mentally "with it" when giving a talk on brain power. Unfortunately the way we communicate has much influence on how well received the information is. I hope many got a lot out of this talk, it's very good info.
Life full of stress and issues and now you going to deprive yourself of a meal or two also? not me. people that eat three or more meals a day that last 90 and a hundred years. what are we supposed to do when after 4 hours of not eating stomch rumbles and feel hungry? i guess is a matter of choice
Muslim like me who are watching are probably just laughing rn . Lol fasting has been mentioned in Quran 1400 years ago and our prophet Muhammad use to fast Monday’s and Thursday’s and the whole amount of Ramadan. All of you non-Muslims open your eyes and just except Islam already .
Wow this is very interesting. There is also teachings of fasting twice a week (mondays & thursdays) and it also includes fasting 3 consecutive days a month (13th,14th and 15th). Furthermore its teaching also recommends when eating to fill your stomach one-third of food, one-third of water and one-third empty. Prophet Muhammad teachings is where you can find out more.
I fasted for two days but finally gave in to pressure from my family. I think we are so brainwashed about eating 3 meals a day that not doing it seems wrong even if we literally dump the food in us. We should be guided more by actual hunger.
I have been on Ketogenic diet for 6 months now. I workout/excersise and stretch EVERYDAY and I just started IF about 1 month ago. I have noticed a ton of benefits to eating less frequently, eating less and fasting. I have NOT lost any muscle mass because I have studied the process of autophagy and glycation, and time everything as well as take the right micro nutrients (teas, herbs, vitamins, minerals). And I’ve noticed an increase in my cognitive function, I don’t need as much sleep, I don’t go to the bathroom as often, and my energy levels are through the roof. Everyone who wants to be healthy should experiment with this lifestyle
