We buy things we don't need To impress people we don't like With money we don't have... Best message dude ... I hope we all realize soon ...

Deluded by financialization meme promulgated by the power elite and the bankers. Go ahead and sell everything if you don't value anything of human value. Cars and condo's are just toys but we do need shelter - it is a human right - as is art and artifacts that reflect our life - accumulation can be civilized, what else defines a well lived life.

It's pretty easy to identify Americans. 2/3rds of their talk is about "I, me, mine" .... ego ego ego ego.

I became a minimalist and feel the same way. Sometimes happy sometimes not. The only difference is less stuff and more money in the bank but nothing changed inside of me.

Not relying on your tax money, money from government funded charity organization and money donation from people is the real sustainable movement: unlike some of these models under "sharing economy" that rent something in exchange for your money is just another form of capitalism in disguise.

A couple of times in my life I have to move another country just with one suitcase. You became minimalist, when you decide what have to be in that suitcase. I didn't have space enough.. because I want to have with me all people that I love. I didn't miss a T-shirt or a jumper, I missed my family, my friends, to spend time with them. That's life, no? And of course, the suitcase was full, we need stuff, but not too much

You were NOT following the American Dream. You were following your own version of what you thought would pass as the American Dream. Don't blame your failure on the American Dream. Blame it on your own understanding of what you thought would make you happy. I'm sorry it didn't work out. But, you can change your mind and try again at the American Dream, if you can figure out what you're really looking for. You obviously have the means/money to do it. Just don't waste it on something that's not the American dream (if you know what that really is).

What I heard was a privileged white guy who got caught up in trying to impress people who don't care and failed to discover his purpose in life instead. He was already empty inside and should have turned to Jesus or the universe or whatever. "Stuff" was not the problem.

What happens if minimalism spread at national level, the country's GDP falls. The nation will be out-passed by rest of the materialistic world. Every country promotes consumerism for the sake of her own growth. It sounds good at personal level but it is depressing for a nation in ling run. India already had the philosophy of having satisfaction with minimal thing. The idea of saving rather than buying but it cost to her industries. Once you are reach and give up things, then if feels good. But for poor people the sense of deprivation always remains, they can be minimalist out of compulsion and compromise but to be happy without tasting the materialistic world is not easy. It requires another level of awareness. Materialism and consumerism can be deadly but at the same time progressive.

Ive llived in 89 countries over almost 11 years on a nonstop journey. Everything I own fits in one 82 liter backpack. I just bought a new sweater (getting cold in Kiev)......had to donate one shirt as my possessions can never grow. . One thing that scares me about my lifestylle is that ive been conditioned to not get attached to people also. I've left a trail of broken hearts in my wake.

Another thing to add, Spending less on clutter and unnecessary stuff will give you more money to spend on the few material things that do matter to you. And by having less, you have less to maintain meaning you save time that you can use for other things in life that are important to you.

You have only one life! Earn as much as you can when you are healthy and able. Learn as much as you can from experience. Enjoy the stuffs you buy with your hard earned money. Enjoy the time with your parents, enjoy the laughs with your friends, enjoy the sweet joy with your family, kids and your loved ones. The pure bliss is when you enjoy every moment in your life as if it's gonna end tomorrow.

Only rich people can be minimalists. People who need to be careful with their money need to hold onto their possessions in case they need them in the future, to avoid spending more.

I decided to be a suitcase-ful 10 years ago. I gave away all my stuff, donating to the community organizations, giving away my car, selling up my house. I have lived and travelled to many countries since then. I met many inspiring people and experienced many circumstances which enriched my life. I'm appreciative with the nature, most. People are ok, the most of them are lacking with wisdom. They don't know what they want and achieve with their only once life. Most of them are wasting time and energy, when they can find out their unique talent and enhance it. Try many things to gain fulfilled life. We all have to die sooner or later, you know.

All those years of being culturally ingrained with notions that you have to do and have certain 'things' to be successful. It's all nonsense. We need to focus on 'being' rather than on 'having'! I have accumulated various assets to produce income for later years.... but those assets have ended up owning a part of me. Time I should be devoting to more important priorities, is being demanded by those 'assets'. Family, health, contribution, community and growth are far more important than the bollocks than our education system espouses. We are trained to make life far more complicated and miserable than it needs to be ....why why why ????? Great video lads! You punch a powerful message we should learn to adopt!
