Try to use your life to achieve goals that ring your bell and make you really happy! Jobs and careers make those things possible! What are your favorite things to do, talk about, read about, watch, listen to, observe, work on, think about? What makes your heart happy? What pays really well? What are your really good at? Do it! Read " What Color Is Your Parachute?" by Richard N. Bolles to get "career and job" ideas to pursue! Also read the "Occupation Outlook Handbook" by the US Dept of Labor to see salary information for each job or career!

I’m 26 years old and never went to college, it never bothered me before but now I am wondering if it’s something I missed out on. I’ve had 3 different jobs in the past 7 years and I haven’t been able to find what I want in life. Every job has been so different. I’m in school now but I’m scared because I don’t know what to major in. I feel so lost and depressed. I honestly hat school but I am pushing myself because I feel like it’s the next logical step.

It’s not from what you do but who you get to be. There’s more satisfaction in becoming someone rather than receiving a pay check. “I stopped a certain mammal from going extinct” “I made 30 grand in a trade deal” I know which ones more impactful for me.

After looking for employment for over 6 months, I don't care WHAT I do. I'm perfectly capable of doing many things if given a chance. Just want to take care of my kids and help people.

I feel like we'd all be freer if we didn't have to rely on our employers for "Benefits" like our health insurance and retirement. it's just absurd the way our system in now, we're basically like serfs.

I would like to live in a world that you mentioned "A world where people stop competing at work because they realize that they are so unique that there's nobody to compete with. Everyone's unique, we don't cross over, we don't have to compete." Thank you :)

I think anyone can be anything in this world if you have the right mindset you can be anything but what Society has done these days is the system tries to make it harder for you to end the career that you want to achieve if you wanted to work abroad in a career you wanted to achieve they say no. Because now you're in a point system we don't need jobs like that so it makes you lose your inspiration and you feel trapped and blocked and then you have to try and think outside the box to apply in another place and it just becomes a fight so I do believe people can become what they want to achieve but it's not nice when you have to rely on someone to make that happen meaning you've got all the qualifications or the experience you're selling yourself and that person makes it harder for you to get through that door and it's the same as you wanted to move abroad you got your degree you got the qualifications you know you're good at what you do but now you're stuck on a point system because they want more doctors and nurses then in your area of career so it's just f***** up I just feel that no one should put a hold on you and I don't know why we live under a system

What you do at job and who you get to be at your job sounds like the same thing.double talk.A distinction without a difference.
Fortgang for Assembly (1 месяц назад)
I beg to differ. If you do a job, let's say selling insurance, and you like the money you make well enough but you can't stand who you have to be (someone who doesn't believe what they are selling, saying. Someone who has to compromise their values at this particular job or with this particular boss) then you are looking at the difference. WHAT you have to do? Sell a product. WHO do you get to be (assuming you don't really like the job) is someone who has to lie, or be uncomfortable selling or some other aspect that doesn't align with who you want to be.

I think my yolk is helping people share their story, giving them a platform for their voice to be heard. I want to be a marketer/ advertising copywriter and a fashion buyer. I admire both occupations because of their ability to help others tell their story. Clothing is a form of self-expression. Being a buyer allows me to help people dress to impress, express, and for comfort. Advertising is about telling the clients story.

"I believe they do know what they want to be, they are just too afraid to speak it, because then they'll have to do something about it" yes true! I think a lot of people spend too much time living in fear.. fear of so much; rejection, failure, falling, quick sand.. (one thing after another) - that they never even tap into their potential! Good speech!

Fortgang for Assembly the problem is ... All the options look good to me, as in they all look equal. But I can't seem to choose one... Whenever I choose one for sometime, my mind wanders off to the other option and if I choose that other option, my kind wanders off to the first one. Moreover, I see myself looking over the cons ONLY of every option.
Fortgang for Assembly (1 месяц назад)
Hi. Sorry for the Fortgang For Assembly signature. I'm on the wrong account but it is me, Laura Berman Fortgang replying. Biology and science because you are good at it and it could lead to significance (and my guess is it got parental approval, too), a diplomat for significance, management for money and ease (and money can often feel like significance too). So, you are not too old to change your mind many times yet so relax. Creativity can come in to many jobs if you have some freedom and autonomy, not just in an art-based career. Keeping in mind that we have an electronic exchange and I can't delve deep here, look at your criteria. Look at the motivation behind each of the things you mention here. Some will align and be similar--think of the impact you'd like to make, the criteria of what is important to you (you have a handle on that) and do what YOU want. Not what is easier or what your family wants for you and remember just because you're good at something doesn't mean that 'it'. I'm good at crochet and people have suggested I can make it into a business---NO thank you.
Harshita Sharma (1 месяц назад)
Fortgang for Assembly hey! I extended the period. I'm still not sure! I did Biology in undergrad. Now I'm 1 year out of university, completely paralyzed about what I want a career in. I'm always juggling between the idea of becoming a scientist ( because I've studied that and it feels like home and it's use is very important in this world.. it's significant), a diplomat ( authority and doing something significant again) , management (because it avails opportunity to get good jobs) and anything related to design because while I was in college I used to do graphic design as an amateur and I've always thought of myself as a very creative person. But autonomy is very important to me, creativity is, doing something significant so that the effort is worthwhile is. I can't seem to make a decision and the time is flying by very quickly.
Fortgang for Assembly (1 месяц назад)
Sorry to have missed your deadline. I hope it worked out. What is your criteria for choosing a job? Money? Autonomy? Creativity? Create criteria so the decision is easier.

So you said for the person who was guarded didn’t dream and there was a solution for another time .... is that time here on you tube?? I need some direction in this area. 50this year and miserable! I need a change but no dreams or ideas. Help!
L 9999 (2 месяца назад)
Sort of helpful. So, if you decide to change careers and want to go in a different direction, HR might not think you are qualified and one might have a difficult time getting into a new industry or field as a result. So many of our job opportunities are limited by the small mindedness of the HR hiring manager. Discover your "yolk" when you are young. If you wait too long to discover your "yolk," the narrow minded hiring managers might mistakenly think you're an expired egg - just keeping with the analogy.

dreams are nice but I'm not in a position to just "change paths" - that is some bourgeoisie 1st world problems right there. Very depressing how UNGRATEFUL and unhappy people are, and how blind to those less fortunate.
Sergey Tsvekotv (5 месяцев назад)
Hmm, i wonder. A lot of thoughts after that talk. I guess I wouldn't want to be anyone, I'm already pretty happy with me. Except for the job. I'm 33, work as a computer programmer and really don't know if I want to do what I'm doing or not. I am just doing it and that's it, it's kinda of a habit. I could change career to something, I guess... but no thoughts there either. And I'm not depressed or anything - that's just the way I am, I want to work less and relax and have a vacation more - that's why i need the money.
misskitty285 (5 месяцев назад)
The problem is that even if you don't, everyone else will - unless you're willing to go freelance/ be self-emplyed. As soon as you're applying for a job the first thing they'll look at is your CV. And it gets harder if you've been out for a few years, say you left your previous position because you wanted to go studying and it hasn't worked out (so you have nothing to show for the attempt) and there's nothing on your CV after that last permanent job apart from a few holiday covers - even if they see you have the skills, it's likely they'll rather hire someone younger who doesn't than someone who has been out of work for a few years.

I know it's just karaoke but it was a lot of fun. I don't go now due to health issues and I don't want to be approached by drunks, not to mention the fact that I am not that young anymore. Singing touches people's hearts and souls. it's also a universal language.
