I think my yolk is helping people share their story, giving them a platform for their voice to be heard. I want to be a marketer/ advertising copywriter and a fashion buyer. I admire both occupations because of their ability to help others tell their story. Clothing is a form of self-expression. Being a buyer allows me to help people dress to impress, express, and for comfort. Advertising is about telling the clients story.

"I believe they do know what they want to be, they are just too afraid to speak it, because then they'll have to do something about it" yes true! I think a lot of people spend too much time living in fear.. fear of so much; rejection, failure, falling, quick sand.. (one thing after another) - that they never even tap into their potential! Good speech!
K. Kruse (13 дней назад)
This was an illuminating speech. I shared it with my two daughters. Also, there is just something so likable about this woman; you want to listen to her.

So you said for the person who was guarded didn’t dream and there was a solution for another time .... is that time here on you tube?? I need some direction in this area. 50this year and miserable! I need a change but no dreams or ideas. Help!
L 9999 (20 дней назад)
Sort of helpful. So, if you decide to change careers and want to go in a different direction, HR might not think you are qualified and one might have a difficult time getting into a new industry or field as a result. So many of our job opportunities are limited by the small mindedness of the HR hiring manager. Discover your "yolk" when you are young. If you wait too long to discover your "yolk," the narrow minded hiring managers might mistakenly think you're an expired egg - just keeping with the analogy.

The guy in question was a very special type of person... There are other people who Supply cars trucks buses motorcycles Etc for movies and commercials... maybe there's another one who's as kind... zany... Fun to be with ... But I doubt it We might be called to work in a vast parking lot... Cold ..rainy.. dark...windy..icy... but I wouldn't think of stopping until we got the job done... boy do I miss having my buddy and his family

dreams are nice but I'm not in a position to just "change paths" - that is some bourgeoisie 1st world problems right there. Very depressing how UNGRATEFUL and unhappy people are, and how blind to those less fortunate.
Sergey Tsvekotv (3 месяца назад)
Hmm, i wonder. A lot of thoughts after that talk. I guess I wouldn't want to be anyone, I'm already pretty happy with me. Except for the job. I'm 33, work as a computer programmer and really don't know if I want to do what I'm doing or not. I am just doing it and that's it, it's kinda of a habit. I could change career to something, I guess... but no thoughts there either. And I'm not depressed or anything - that's just the way I am, I want to work less and relax and have a vacation more - that's why i need the money.
misskitty285 (3 месяца назад)
The problem is that even if you don't, everyone else will - unless you're willing to go freelance/ be self-emplyed. As soon as you're applying for a job the first thing they'll look at is your CV. And it gets harder if you've been out for a few years, say you left your previous position because you wanted to go studying and it hasn't worked out (so you have nothing to show for the attempt) and there's nothing on your CV after that last permanent job apart from a few holiday covers - even if they see you have the skills, it's likely they'll rather hire someone younger who doesn't than someone who has been out of work for a few years.

I always wanted to be a singer. I never had anyone really believe in me to do it and we were poor and didn't even have a car. I discovered simple karaoke years ago and really loved it. I know it's just karaoke but it was a lot of fun. I don't go now due to health issues and I don't want to be approached by drunks, not to mention the fact that I am not that young anymore. Singing touches people's hearts and souls. it's also a universal language.

So all that the uneducated factory worker has to do is regonize that he has a graving for some sort of recognition and then his carreer will lift of. Does that sound realistic to you? Or is she only speaking to the upper class?
Fortgang for Assembly (9 месяцев назад)
Hi VinnieX. Where I do work with clients that can consult with me for a nice fee, I have worked across many levels of income and education throughout the US in public settings or as a paid speaker/consultant. The city of Miami Beach had me work across all their departments. Specifically, as you presented, someone who realizes they need recognition and are brave enough to start asking for it from their bosses may find one of two reactions. Some may think he's too sensitive and be annoyed by his neediness but others may see someone taking charge of creating a better workplace scenario for themselves. People who are happier about work, do better. If you do better, you often get tagged as someone who could move up. If that doesn't resonate with you, that's fine but I do want you to know it can work if people care.
The Ultimate Reductionist (10 месяцев назад)
TURDx talks. This speaker has absolutely nothing important at all to say about anything. She is just a freeloader who gets rich by corporate welfare. So, how do ANY of these mental inferiors who spout their unimportant worthless economic philosophies get paid? Do they get paid in money, or paid in goods & services? What USEFUL labor or what PERSONAL SACRIFICES does she, do they, make in exchange for those goods & services?
The Ultimate Reductionist (10 месяцев назад)
Capitalism is the problem. Capitalism is a failure. As long as capitalists and capitalism-religious cultists refuse to acknowledge all physical reality, and stop living in a dream world fantasy world where magically everybody can be matched with a job they can do and get paid well for it and everybody can be rich and live on easy street (without a massive revolutionary quantum leap in technology, distributed to benefit EVERYBODY, for ALL to use), in a world of FINITE physical resources, constrained by the LAWS of thermodynamics, AND taking into account the NONCONSENSUAL VIOLENT ACT of REPRODUCTION: of millions of NEW humans being FORCED into existence, WITH NO property rights, by BREEDERS, WITHOUT their consent, WITHOUT their permission, then ONLY COMMUNIST and SOCIALIST LAW can guarantee everybody lives decently. Communism & socialism are NECESSARY, but NOT sufficient. The labor people do must be NEEDED. It must be USEFUL, and NOT just useful to a tiny 0.001% at the expense of others. So, that means NO jobs committing FRAUD and LYING to people just to steal money from 100 people just to give to 1 person, such as a banker.

When I was young, I wanted to be a rockstar. While in college, I wanted to change the world by motivating youth from inner cities. At one point, I dreamt of becoming a mayor to really make change happen. Now, I have a decent paying job with great benefits, but I feel unfulfilled. I'm there because I have responsibilities. Since a few months ago, I've reached a point where I feel lost. I want to do something I love, but I'm having a really hard time determining what that is. ☹️
Fortgang for Assembly (11 месяцев назад)
Your yolk/blueprint is right in front of you. All those dreams point to having to have a chance to make change happen to feel fulfilled. It can be a sideline. Move on it!
Scott (11 месяцев назад)
I am doing what I want, but I also have to do what I don't because what I want to do will never make a dime. It's just a hobby because no one will ever pay me to do it. It's also the only way no one can own me for doing it. If I get even a dollar to build content and media, the expectation goes through the roof. As long as it's free, results can happen at my pace and I still have a say because I pay for it. I say it because that's how it's always happened. I help, someone pays me a little, and the expectations changes, as if $100 was a year's salary.

the concept is great, but I would like someone or you Laura if you even see this, how does someone who has 0 connections has to work a day and maybe night job to even remotely come close to starting a business, how do you just start business that makes you money?? because I believe I know not all but most have that "mommy daddy money" that gives them that edge too enable them too do soo and its fucking depressin to think if I work super super hard that even then my odds and money might not let me make it ...and like you said even suicidal because, I can not see my self working under someone else for much longer at jobs I don't like because these are the only ones that I can " live the American dream" doing ...ughh I hope someone shares the same mental state I'm in because of this someone that can help me see the other side because these videos help but I need someone with some more insight to help guide my mind how this really works ..bless..nick
Fortgang for Assembly (11 месяцев назад)
It's easy to assume everyone has a leg up that you don't. Please know I started my business from nothing 25 years ago. My husband made less than I did and there was no rescue from anyone. It's easy to get discouraged. my motto and what I've had clients do for YEARS is to commit to do ONE thing a day towards your dream. Make it scary and risky but ONE thing a day and you will move things. There will be setbacks but keep going. If you're seriously depressed please call for help. There are resources for free to help you. It's easy to let the depression to take over. If it's due to circumstances and not just clinical depression, YOU can move it by taking small actions. I did. ONE thing a day.

I'm a bit fed up of all the talks involving only those who chose/had the possibilities of going to school and later on college. Talk about blue collar workers instead, include those people. Who cares about those who went to college? They will find something later on, it's mainly a matter of time. Talk about those who couldn't or didn't choose to follow the university path AND who are over their 40s, THAT is a challenge I'm more interested to hear. So far, no one ever, in my opinion, gave any true aid to this part of the population of any so-called civilized country. Why? But if so, please point out that direction, I'm interested to see what -crap- stuff is said.
Fortgang for Assembly (11 месяцев назад)
I speak from my experience and these are who my clients have been. I've worked with blue collar workers through town programs or through being paired up with people through TV programs or community programs. There are opportunities out there for people who did not go to college. What stops you from seeking them out? There are funds to get training, there are organizations that help people gain new skills. Are you part of a union? There are often opportunities for retraining or schooling if you so desire. I just did work at the Carpenter's Union in NJ and the walls were decorated with names of members who used Union money to further their education or training.

You may want to consider current reports where agricultural industry, vineyards and crop specific produce like asparagus, artichokes, etc ... That the owners of these private industry report they do not know how they are going to survive this season's harvest without illegal immigrant workers. Specifically, several report "native born Americans" don't know how, don't want and/or not capable of doing this work that requires a lot of skill, especially pruning vineyards. Their position is Americans do not want/need for 'hard labor'. This may be a perfect time to go and learn these essential skills. Whatever worries about working conditions? Well, confirm it and find out whether true or not true. A dream job nowadays may mean that an opportunity to learn something real vs virtual, digitizing of others, things, etc is what these folks are offering. Negotiate your earnings. Some say timeless things are antiquated, perhaps the stigma of all of this is what is antiquated? Dunno, you all are very smart people. Things change

I'm seeing a lot of comments like "what about the sad kids that can't dream?" "I genuinely don't know what I want to do..." And such. Well I can't tell you definitively what you should do (not without actually meeting you and seeing what kind of person you are, anyways.) but I can give you the bit of advice someone gave me about finding somewhere to start. He told me to picture the last time I'd smiled while doing something. After stressing about unsuccessfully finding work for like 5 weeks, smiles where few and far in between. So I thought about it and came up with gardening. Just for shits and giggles I had planted a potato plant a week back and I'd taken great care to keep that little bugger alive. And I realized just how much I liked it - I was actually having a blast. So I started there and thought "how can I make this into a job?" The logical answer was a plant nursery ofc. I was lucky enough to have a few within reasonable distance of home so I applied as a yard hand. I'll spare you the rest. The long and short of it is this: what makes you happy? Decide that and you're set. :) hope this helps, friends.
